That is correct! That was Phil’s last stock car race. He still resides in Merritt Island, FL. He plays with go-karts with his family and travels to the stock car races with me and my brother often. Phil’s most memorable moments include setting the track record for the 1979 ARCA 200 at Daytona and nearly beating Kyle Petty in Kyle’s first ARCA win in 1979 at Daytona. A piece of an engine block went through Phil’s windshield while leading that race, causing him to lose the leadlateintherace.
