Sorry but I have had to temporary disallow all comments on this video, the morons and the spammers and the trolls out there will know why. brains of teenagers are different than those of children and adults. New data confirms that this is the case. An article by Jay N. Giedd, MD, of the…

the fastest way to kill your child is give them a brand new trans-am or camero on graduation. and then send them out on the town for grad partys . seen it before, i’m sure i’ll see it again. every year in june.

raising the driving age is unfair to all of the good teenagers that don’t drive recklessly. more needs to be done to teach younger people about safe driving

i agree with you. IF you higher the age who can say that they wont do the same thing that a teen would do. Its something new and exciting it will get old over time.

If you’re an idiot and a reckless driver you’ll be an idiot and a reckless driver whether you’re 17 or 70. There’s people who can’t drive a car properly when they’re 30 and people who could control them well at 15. Age limits are not the solution, its too arbitrary.

actually that whole brain research on teenagers is all well and good, but out here in the country, most of the kids have been driving since they were 3 years old, and driving mountain roads and dumptrucks since they were 13. its just experience.

i agree with you, i lost 2 friends of mine that i went to school with a couple months ago, because they were driving recklessly. they werent drunk, they werent under drugs. it was just speeding.
i got my provisional license at 17, and was passed at 18. however i was mature enough by 16 so that wasnt a problem, raising the legal driving age is the only solution in my opinion and 21 is the best option to save the lifes of countless teenagers just trying to impress/show off to their friends

rhs even though what you say is correct. Its not a matter of our jurisdiction of what is wrong and right. Its a matter of does people even listen. Driving textbooks teaches them as much as possible about driving. Its up to them to remember and listen. And we have no control of it. Just think as car crashes like these is a sign of punishment for them for being idiots.

nope
Anonymous 04.18.09 at 6:19 am
No we were not ALL teenage drivers once. brain changes in teenagers impact cognition, emotion and behavior Novelty seeking, sensation seeking and risk taking is the basis for considerable reckless behavior of some adolescents. You could also argue that not ALL teenagers are like that, but just look at the statistics as well they ARE from a very reliable source

How can one accept personal responsiblity if one is dead, the fact of the matter is they need to be educated, they need the sort of driver ed programs that weed out the idiots, they also need to be shown when they learn to drive just what can happen, and more so if they get busted for stuff like drink driving. That is one reason why many believe 16 is too young to drive. personally I would love to see the age raised to 21yrs, but I will accept a minimum age of 18 as a compromise.
Anonymous 04.18.09 at 6:19 am
i have to disagree.there has to be personal responsibility. i got my license at 16 and lots of others to.i knew what to do and not what to do. they teach not to drink and drive and all that stuff in driver’s ed. people know if they drive fast what could happen. my cousin died 6 years ago drag racing. it’s not the community’s fault for that or the school. it was his, we all warned him. people have to accept personal responsibility for their actions.if i go out and drive drunk who’s fault is that?
Anonymous 04.18.09 at 6:19 am
it is very much a community responsibility to educate as much as possible, it effects us all those who pass away in severe accidents like this one, they are the lucky ones, it is not only the families left to deal with it. what about those who survive those with severe injuries that they have to live the rest of their lives with. some requiring permanent care. costing a heap of money.
Anonymous 04.18.09 at 6:19 am
not our responsibilty, its commen sense. we were all teenage drivers once. its commen sense of what to do and not to do. if a teen doesn’t know the dangers of drinking, texting or whatever while driving then they should not be out in the streets.
